Barton in Eccles
Have you seen the 1s that have sprung up in Barton? Or maybe you’ve seen the ‘Another 1st for Barton’ window stickers?
They’re part of Walkabout’s latest project, celebrating all the ‘firsts’ that have happened in Barton. For instance, did you know that the first motor-powered fire engine was housed at Barton, or that the first ever airport in Greater Manchester was in Barton? Wherever we’ve found a first, we’ve put up a 1 to celebrate. We’re now asking the people of Barton to get involved and tell us their firsts This can be anything … the first time you told someone you loved them, first car you bought, first house you lived in … it’s up to you. Take your pick on a method to capture your thoughts – it could be done using photography, audio recording, film, drawing or perhaps even sculpture!
