A Slice Of Eccles
Sun 12 July at 3pm. FREE TICKETS!
The Lowry on Walkabout’s 14 months developing creative activity in Eccles culminates at The Lowry with ‘A Slice of Eccles…’ a community show that ignores The Lowry’s vast theatre spaces and creates performance in corridors, the bars, balconies and even the lifts!
A Slice of Eccles brings together the vast range of community groups that the Walkabout team have been working with to create a production that celebrates the work, the diversity and draws on the past to look at where Eccles is going in the future.
Barton Theatre Company have devised mini performances that take us through the history of Eccles up to the present day.
Lewis Street Primary school, Monton Voices and a new choir created just for the day will be singing from balconies, escalators and the Bridge outside – we resurrect the notorious Eccles Wakes, once banned for bawdy behaviour as The Lowry’s Circle Bar becomes a huge marquee with local groups promoting their services through a somewhat different way.
The balcony overlooking the piazza becomes a working allotment with top tips on all things green coming from Tindall and Clevelys allotment holders.
‘Lifting the Lid’ was a film created earlier this year about the people of Winton and there’ll be a chance to catch another screening as we open the Lyric Theatre ‘boxes’ for people to view the film in style.
Look out for Eccles Borough Band who appear when you least expect them and the mysterious appearance of a well known Salford artist sketching the afternoons events.
The show culminates with the audience being taken outside, a mass dance performnance and angelic voices from the bridge!
Tickets are free for this event must be reserved in advance from The Lowry’s box office on 0870 787 5780.
