Ordsall & Langworthy
In December 2007, Ordsall, closest neighborhood to The Lowry, became the second area that Walkabout focused on.
Ordsall is undergoing the most dramatic change since the 60’s with the clearance of old social housing and the development of new social and private housing. New communities are mixing with established ones - a positive symbol of the regeneration has been the creation of a new primary school for the area, Primrose Hill. This was our starting point, working with Ordsall Community Arts alongside the parents of children at the school to find out:
- What they were interested in?
- What their feelings were about the regeneration of the area?
- What they wanted to produce for a Walkabout project in their area?
A number of small-scale projects (including dance sessions and Christmas decoration-making with a difference), led to Ordsall on the Move.
